The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and storms in many parts of Germany this Thursday. According to the forecast, the west and south-west of the country should be affected first, but also the high altitudes of the Alps. During the course of the day, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to slowly reach southern and eastern Lower Saxony.

Hurricane gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour are expected, locally - especially in central Germany - according to the DWD, tornadoes are also possible. In addition, hailstones of five to seven centimeters in size can fall. If you can, you should spend Thursday indoors and secure the balcony, garden or terrace beforehand and close windows and doors.
